What is MAHA?
MAHA stands for Make America Healthy Again. It is the movement, now carrying real power in Washington, that says our sickness is not bad luck: it tracks what went into our food, our medicine and our rules, and someone profits from all three. It is led publicly by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The idea in one line
American families did not get sicker by accident. Something changed in the food, the medicine and the incentives, and MAHA exists to name it and change it back.
"American kids did not suddenly get gluttonous and lazy. Something is poisoning them, and we need to figure that out."
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Senate HELP Committee, January 2025
It is not a party
Here is the number that surprises people. Only about 1 in 4 Americans call themselves MAHA supporters, but about 3 in 4 back its food-chemical policies, and 8 in 10 want ultra-processed food labeled (Annenberg, 2026). Gallup found roughly 8 in 10 support banning artificial food dyes (July 2026).
The policies are popular.
"There is no such thing as Republican children or Democratic children. There are just kids, and we should all be concerned with them."
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., House Appropriations Committee, May 2025
What has already changed
This is the part worth memorizing, because it is the difference between a slogan and a movement. These things are done or underway:
- The FDA revoked authorization for Red Dye No. 3, with removal deadlines.
- The FDA announced a phase-out of petroleum-based synthetic dyes.
- General Mills has reported completing the removal of synthetic dyes from its US cereals.
- Federal law now allows whole milk in school lunches.
- The food pyramid has been flipped.
"We flipped the food pyramid upside down. We sent a clear message to Americans: eat real food."
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., House Energy and Commerce Committee, April 2026
None of it ends chronic disease.

What MAHA asks of you
Not much. Eat real food, and ask why.
"Together we can make America healthy again."
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Senate HELP Committee, April 2026
