Did doctors get duped?

If you saw the makers' Newsmax spot, you heard it said plainly: "more and more doctors are really waking up to this reality that they've been duped." That line is the film's, and the paper trail behind it is real. Doctors were not fooled by villains. They were trained, paid and guided by a system whose incentives did the fooling.

Your doctor is not the enemy

If you are a patient, hear this first: your doctor is not the villain of this story. Most of them did exactly what they were trained to do, inside a system that never trained them to look for what actually makes us sick.

If you are a doctor or a nurse, you know the other half. You went into medicine to heal people. You spend your days managing them. That gap has a cause, and it is not your conscience.

The enemy is the incentive, never the person in the white coat.

How the duping actually worked

The record shows three pieces.

The training. A peer-reviewed survey of US medical schools found students averaged 19.6 contact hours of required nutrition teaching across all four years. Newer surveys report even less. Less than one week, across a decade of training, on the biggest driver of the diseases most Americans carry.

The science. In 2016, JAMA Internal Medicine published documents showing the Sugar Research Foundation paid Harvard scientists in the 1960s, about $6,500 at the time, to produce reviews that downplayed sugar's link to heart disease and blamed fat. The doctors who taught today's doctors learned from that research.

The money around it. The American Diabetes Association discloses more than $134 million from pharmaceutical and device makers between 2017 and 2024. And a food company could declare its own ingredient "generally recognized as safe" and go to market without the FDA reviewing anything. That GRAS loophole still exists, though HHS announced rulemaking to close it in 2025.

None of that required a single corrupt doctor. That is what makes the arrangement work.

What the film says

MAHA™ Uncensored: The Truth About Medicine is built around people who worked inside that system and walked out. The makers' press materials list Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Peter McCullough, Calley Means, Brigham Buhler and others.

"You only really succeed when people are not well. And it's because there's so much money being made on chronic disease."

Brigham Buhler, former pharmaceutical sales representative, The Dr. Hyman Show

"Instead of being healed, she was being managed."

Dr. Casey Means, describing her mother's care, NPR interview

The turn

For decades, "that's the standard of care" was the sentence that ended every question. The record above shows the standard had a payroll behind it.

Stop calling that normal. It is already moving: the FDA revoked Red Dye No. 3 and announced a phase-out of petroleum-based dyes, and General Mills has reported removing synthetic dyes from its US cereals. Institutions change when enough people refuse the standard they were handed.

"Well, I'm not going to apologize for that."

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Senate Finance Committee, January 2025

Chapter 1 of the film is where the doctors make the case themselves. It is titled The Medical-Industrial Complex: A Success Story, and the first chapter is available to watch free.

Questions people ask

Did doctors admit being duped in the MAHA movie?

In the film's Newsmax advertising, a speaker says more and more doctors are waking up to the reality that they've been duped. We describe the film from the makers' ads and press materials, not from a viewing.

Is this page saying my doctor is bad?

No. The argument is about the incentives doctors were trained and paid under. Your doctor's care stays between you and your doctor.

Why don't doctors learn nutrition?

A peer-reviewed survey found US medical students averaged 19.6 contact hours of required nutrition teaching across four years. Newer surveys report even less.
